Military personnel can no longer buy Fortuners, Safaris, 4-wheel drives from CSD canteens
The government has put a ceiling on the price of vehicles that can be bought from canteens of the Indian Armed Forces. This will prevent the use of expensive SUVs bought from these establishments. Gone are the days of the Toyota Fortuner, the Jeep Compass, and the other four-wheeled vehicles that were popular among the military. Instead, it's the base model of the XUV 500 that is now available in the canteens of the armed forces. Several high-end models such as the Skoda Octavia and the Volkswagen Polo are now off the market. Aside from these, the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Ford Ecosport are still available. CSD Car Eligibility in 2021 All Defense Department employees, including those on the payrolls of the government, can now buy a car through CSD.
