Spider-Man: No Way Home is a 2019 American superhero film directed by Sam Raimi. It is the sequel to the 2017 movie Spider-Man Homecoming and the 27th film in the MCU.

The film was directed by Jon Watts and written by Chris McKenna. It features Tom Holland as Spider-Man, as well as various other actors.

In the film, Spider-Man asks Dr. Stephen Strange to make his identity as the titular character a secret. When the multiverse is opened, villains from other universes can enter Parker's world.

A third Spider-Man movie was originally planned for 2017, but the contract between Marvel Studios and Sony ended in August 2019. The following year, a negative fan reaction led to the two companies reaching a new deal.

It is set to be released on December 17, 2021.

Spider-Man asks Dr. Stephen Strange to help him restore his secret identity, but this breaks open the multiverse.

The film focuses on the fallout of Spider-Man Homecoming's mid-credits scene, where Peter Parker's identity as the titular character is revealed. During this time, he is more insecure and defeated than he was in previous MCU movies.

For Holland, the adjustment back to playing Parker was strange, since he previously played more mature roles.

Benedict Cumberbatch reprises his role as Dr. Stephen Strange, who underwent a career-ending car accident. He takes on the mentor role for Tony Stark, who was previously played by Iron Man and Spider-Man.

Holland believed that Strange was not a mentor to Tony Parker, but he also saw them as colleagues. Benedict also felt that their relationship is close.

Benedict Wong as Wong: A master of the Mystic Arts, who is Strange's mentor and friend.

Willem Dafoe reprises his role as Spider-Man in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man 3" trilogy.

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 reprises Molina's role, with this character continuing his story and presumed death. For him, this approach was a surprise, as he had already aged in the years since he played the character in the first film.

The CGI used for the character's tentacles was created using the same process as in Spider-Man 2.

Jamie Foxx reprises his role as Max Dillon in No Way Home, where he plays an alternate reality version of himself named Electro. He gains electric powers after accidentally injuring himself.

Many of the actors from the previous movies reprise their roles. Some of them include Tony Revolori as Eugene “Flash” Thompson, Angourie Rice as Betty “Bret” Brant, and Jorge Lendeborg Junior as Jason Ionello.

Harry Holland, who also appeared in the 2017 film, will also make a cameo appearance.

In 2017, Tom Holland said that the third Spider-Man film would take place during Parker's high school years. In July 2019, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that the third film would feature a Peter Parker story that's never been told before.

Jon Watts, the director of Homecoming and Far From Home, expressed interest in having Kraven the Hunter as the main antagonist of the third Spider-Man movie.

It was revealed that Marvel Studios and The Walt Disney Studios were in talks to expand their deal with Sony. Under the existing agreement, Marvel and Feige would receive 5% of the company's revenue from the Spider-Man movies.

Disney wanted to acquire a majority stake in any future films that Feige would produce for them. This prompted Sony to pull the plug on the Spider-Man film without Fege's involvement.

Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna have confirmed that they will continue working on the third film, despite the possibility that it could change.

In September, Tony Vinciquerra, the chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, said that the door is "close" on Spider-Man's return to the MCU. He also confirmed that the character would still be integrated with the company's own shared universe.

Disney's chief creative officer John D.

Vinciquerra defended the company's decision to acquire Marvel, stating that the company has great respect for the company's employees.

In September 2019, Sony and Disney announced an agreement that would allow Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige to develop a new Spider-Man film for Sony in 2021.

The agreement would allow Marvel Studios to continue developing Spider-Man movies for Sony, with the character being kept in the MCU.

Marvel Studios President Kevin F eige said that he was "thrilled" that Spider-Man would continue his journey in the MCU. He also noted that the character would be able to cross various cinematic universes.

This relationship is said to be a call and answer between the two companies as they acknowledge the details between the two.

During an interview in October, Iger credited the deal to the fans' reaction to the original deal, as well as the efforts of Holland. He also noted that when negotiating the deal, both Sony and Disney forgot that other people mattered, too.

Sony's president, Michael Rothman, said that the negotiations were handled in a way that was beneficial for everyone involved, stating that the fans and the media coverage about the negotiations did not line up with the actual discussions.

Production on Spider-Man: No Way Home is expected to begin in mid-2020. It was initially set to start in July 2021.

In August 2021, it was announced that Sony would release 15 of their films in the ScreenX format over three years. No Way Home will be the first Phase Four film to release in China.
